- Identify both positive and negative impacts
- Evaluate risks and hazards associated with the process or project, both short and long term according to workplace procedures
- Assess environmental impact
- Assess process or project against environmental regulations, site terms, conditions, licences and company policy
- Make qualified and justified assessment of impact on environment
- Ensure written assessment documents are used as the scientific basis for assessment according to workplace procedures
- Present written assessment in clearly written and illustrated format according to workplace procedures
- Ensure all practical solutions to impact assessment are included in analysis
- Prepare objective and scientifically valid alternatives
- Prepare comparisons using cost benefit analysis where possible according to workplace procedures
- Identify alternative processes or amended project to minimise environmental impact
